My project requires for me to have a specific proton vpn enabled, but Cody stops working with it on VSCODE or other Sourcegraph services (get a message that blocked by firewall).
Hello @mhlenux
That’s true, all Sourcegraph gateways are protected by Cloudflare for security reasons which indeed block access by using a VPN or proxy service.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
This is the same problem for me. I am required, for security reasons, when working from insecure locations to use a vpn and I am blocked unless I disable the vpn.
That’s not cool for Sourcegraph or customers. Works with M$ Copilot Chat and really what’s the reason other than you want to track people. We pay, we log in so what’s the real reason? It will force people off the product.
I think the primary reason is to protect Sourcegraph services against fraudulent, malicious user activity.
Also if you look to what PriNova said then gateways are protected by Cloudflare so Clouflare primary gets/tracks/limits the user requests not Sourcegraph itself.
Also probably all requests go trough this Gateway flow so it doesn’t matter so much if you are logged in user and what kind of subscription you have - they all are treated the same way.
