Hi everyone! Hopefully someone can help. There is a very annoying bug that started happening recently. Short version: If you restart VSC, Cody clears the last Cody tab, so you lose all history in that tab.
I typically have more than one Cody chat tab open. I keep the code on the left side and the Cody tabs on the right hand side. If you quit and restart VSC, it normally reloads all tabs and saves your history. NOW, however, it clears the last Cody tab as VSC is restarting. If you watch carefully, you will see your last tab with all of your history get overwritten. This only seems to happen with the last tab.
If you want Cody to have a new blank tab, please make Cody open a new tab, not overwrite an existing one. This is very undesirable and unexpected behavior.
I have checked the settings and don’t see any settings related to this behavior. I have the windows set to “Cody › Chat: Default Location = sticky”. I am running the latest versions of VSC & Cody on MacOS.
To understand you correctly, say you have 5 tabs open and in each tab a conversation is happening. Now you restart VSC and 4 of those 5 are loaded with the corresponding chat session, but the 5th is empty and gone, right?
Is the 5th saved in the chat history to reload?
What version of Cody are you operating?
Hi! Thanks for your reply. I added a couple of screenshots. The screenshots should help everyone see the issue. The Cody version is the latest one: v1.38.1
Thanks for reminding me about the history. When you use Cody on the right side, there is no obvious link to history. I had forgotten that Cody even had a history. When I check the history, the previous chat is still there. So it is simply erasing the last tab on the right. I can still get the chat history back by digging in the Cody menu on the left.
That revelation reduces this to just a minor issue for me. I was concerned that I had lost entire sessions of chat.
