I am not sure why, but I really don’t like using Cody with a new tab in the editor. I want all chats to open in the sidebar. I know Cody has a configuration to open new chats in the sidebar, but that only works with some of the features in Cody, like SHIFT+ALT+L. The problem, is that many prompts, like “Find Code Smells” and “Explain Code” and anything that comes up with the ALT+C option (Cody commands), still open up in a new tab. And, since Cody opens a new tab, the relevance of it’s response suck and never seem to be that relevant to the code I am trying to fix or explain. It seems that Cody keeps on track and uses the context better when things are opened in the sidebar. I am not sure why that would be, but anything opened in a tab is way off and usually just close the tab and re-ask my question in the sidebar.
When the configuration is set to open all new tabs in the sidebar, my thought is all chats should open in the sidebar, no matter what the command was. Can we get it so that no chats open in a new tab when this setting is configured?
